Iowans must have a voice over tax policies and must be able to hold government officials accountable. Legislation passed by both the state House and Senate this last year aimed to strip local officials of control over spending. Seeing the potential for vast increases in property tax burden and in the face of public scrutiny, Governor Culver was forced to go against his party and veto HF 2645. Ryan will fight to make sure such irresponsible legislation never even gets to the Governor’s desk.
